Hungarian Multinational Companies Conference 2007

18 June 2007

Develor Consulting Inc. organised a Hungarian Multinational Companies Conference with success, attracting over a hundred participants, held at the conference rooms of the Boscolo New York Hotel.

The event held for the first time under the title of Boundless potentials raised high interest due to the topicality and necessariness of the subject. The main purpose of the conference was to encourage and provide professional support to the regional role of companies, and to offer useful and practical advice to them for crossing boundaries.

The conference was opened by a presentation given by undersecretary Géza Egyed, who announced capital export and the relevant support to be crucial tasks of the Ministry of Economy and Transport.

Director of EU Development Centre Prof. Dr. Péter Balázs gave a comprehensive overview of the EU illustrated with explicit examples, while deputy CEO Zoltán Lex familiarised the participants with the Hungarian Development Bank’s programme to promote internationalization.

In addition to explaining the state subsidy programmes, the organisers also found it important to share the experience of companies that have expanded in the region. A representative of large Hungarian multinationals was deputy CEO to OTP László Wolf, who emphasised the topicality and necessariness of cross-border expansion, while MOL Strategic Director Ákos Kassai highlighted the importance of the domestic background in his presentation. Medium-sized companies were represented by business development director to AAM Vezetői Informatikai Tanácsadó Zrt., Csaba Lengyel, who explored the advantages and stumbling blocks of the expansion strategy characterised as “a country a year”. President of Kürt Zrt. Dr. Sándor Kürti in his enjoyable presentation explained the success of the information security company with a harmony among knowledge, talent and professional teamwork, and emphasised the importance of attitudes to business and work resulting from great differences in cultures.

At the afternoon working sessions, the greatest interest was raised by the two sessions on the key target countries, Romania and Ukraine, but a session on analysing target countries from an investment perspective was interesting and, according to participants, was characterised by a particularly useful dialogue and transfer of information, as well as the sessions analysing the financing potentials for Hungarian investments and those addressing human challenges of outside our borders.

The conference equally considered as useful by participants and presenters will continue on 23 April 2008 as Hungarian Multinational Companies II, under the title of Business development beyond our borders.

With respect to the high interest, and due to the outstanding topicality and importance of this subject, the organisers announce a series of programmes under the title of Develor Hungarian Multinational Companies Seminar in order to expand the possibilities associated with this subject, with long-term objectives including

  • calling attention to professional cooperation of Hungarian regional companies, synergies representing added value intrinsic to market expansion,
  • and initiating a process that, focusing on individual topics, presents the particularities, potentials and major challenges concerning the target markets to the participants.

The first Develor Hungarian Multinational Companies Seminar will be held on 20 September 2007; for more detailed information, please visit www.magyarmultik.hu and www.develor.hu on or after 1 August.
